質問: 研究論文とレビュー論文の違いは？

研究論文は未発表の研究をもとにしています。研究の種類は様々で (実験、調査、インタビュー、質問紙など)　専門領域やトピックによって異なるかもしれませんが、研究者はローデータを収集・分析し、独自の研究を行わなければなりません。研究論文は、こうしたデータの分析と解釈がもとになります。

総説あるいはレビュー論文は掲載済みの他の論文をもとにしています。未発表の研究を報告するのではありません。一般に総説とは、トピックに関する理解の現状を説明するため、そのトピックの先行研究をまとめたものです。総説には3つの種類があります。

• 「ナラティブレビュー」は、あるトピックに関してすでに発表され入手可能なすべての研究をもとに、そのトピックの既存の知識を説明するものです。
   
• 「システマティックレビュー」は、あるトピックに関する既存の科学文献の中から、特定の問題に対する答えを探すものです。
   
• 「メタ分析」は、これまでに発表された研究の結果を比較したり結びつけることで、通常は、介入の効果や治療法の効果を評価するために行うものです。

レビュー論文は、先行研究の知見をまとめていることから、価値ある科学論文となっています。そのため、読者はその領域で発表された研究をすべて読まなくても、既存の知識を理解することができます。医療の分野では特に、よく練られた総説が見られます。非常に評判のいいジャーナルでも総説を掲載しています。ですが、まずはあなたが掲載を希望しているジャーナルのウェブサイトを見て、総説などを受理しているか確認しておきましょう。総説は、すぐれた査読付きジャーナルに掲載された場合、大きな影響力を持ち、数多く引用されることが多いです。
